The NorthStar seal retainer guide used to be made out of brass, but is now made out of stainless steel. This nut is also referred to as a gland, and holds in the u-cup seal, and keeps the shaft straight. It requires a shaft liner to prevent wear on the inside of the retainer. These retianer guide will fit most every brand drywall pump, and can also be used to replace plastic retainer guides on level 5 and platinum pumps.
